India’s entry into Wassenaar arrangement a multilateral
export Control regime as 42nd participating member is a
big step in getting its membership in NSG group and to become a great nuclear
power. This great achievement has been achieved by India just after a year
after getting membership in MTCR. As a non-signatory member to the Nuclear Non proliferation
Treaty (NPT) New Delhi has been at turmoil and was not getting comfortable to
convey to international community about it.
The Wassenar arrangement was
founded in year 1996 and it is like the other main groups like MTCR ,NSG and
the Australia group. It states that “to contribute to regional and
international stability and security, by promoting transparency and greater responsibility
in transfer of conventional arms and dual user goods and technologies, thus
preventing destablishing accumulation “It has been seen as one of the great achievement
of India at world level. One of the important things here is that China is not
the member of Wassenar arrangement however India got its membership.
